Senior or Principal Transportation Planner – Capitol Region Council of Governments September 23, 2026 by APA-MA Administrator The Capitol Region Council of Governments (CRCOG) is seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative, and experienced professional to become our newest Senior or Principal Transportation Planner. This position is responsible for a variety of planning activities within the Transportation Planning Department, including supporting and/or overseeing numerous CRCOG planning studies, including the RFQ process, consultant selection, contracting, and invoicing; working with other staff to help the Agency and municipalities complete transportation projects and initiatives; and coordinating efforts associated with advancing non-infrastructure recommendations from CRCOG transportation safety plans. This position reports to the Director of Transportation Planning or the Deputy Director of Transportation Planning. Minimum Qualifications The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Urban/Regional Planning, Urban Studies, Geography, Civil Engineering, or related field. A Master’s degree is preferred. An equivalent combination of training and work experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform required duties will be considered. Senior Level (Grade 4): A minimum of three years of increasingly responsible experience. Principal Level (Grade 5): A minimum of seven years of increasingly responsible experience. AICP certification preferred. CRCOG has a minimum 35-hour work week.
