VP – Administrative & Governance Affairs Job Title: Vice President, Administrative & Governance Affairs Reports To: CEO Associate The VP of Administrative & Governance Affairs leads four functional pillars Human Resources, Legal Affairs, Governance & Corporate Affairs, and Training & Education ensuring the organization operates with strong governance, legal compliance, workforce capability, and institutional knowledge in a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment. This role reports to executive leadership/the Board and is accountable for the performance of four functional managers and their teams, while personally owning board relations, enterprise governance policy, and cross-functional regulatory alignment (FDA, EMA, GxP). Key Responsibilities People Leadership • Directly manage and develop four functional Managers (HR, Legal Affairs, Governance & Corporate Affairs, Training & Education), setting goals, conducting performance reviews, and building succession plans • Set the annual operating plan and budget across all four functions and monitor delivery against KPIs • Foster a unified culture across administrative and governance functions, ensuring consistent policy application company-wide Governance & Corporate Affairs (oversight of Manager, Governance & Corporate Affairs) • Serve as principal liaison to the Board of Directors and relevant committees (Audit, Compliance, Risk) • Ensure governance practices align with pharma regulatory frameworks (FDA, EMA, ICH, GxP) • Oversee corporate records, disclosures, and conflict-of-interest policies (KOL engagements, investigator relationships) • Oversee compliance with Sunshine Act reporting and industry marketing codes (PhRMA, EFPIA) Legal Affairs (oversight of Manager, Legal Affairs) • Ensure legal review of contracts, licensing agreements, and R&D/CRO partnerships • Oversee management of litigation risk, IP protection, and regulatory legal exposure • Coordinate with external counsel on M&A, clinical trial agreements, and product liability matters Human Resources (oversight of Manager, Human Resources) • Oversee workforce planning, compensation strategy, and HR policy for administrative/governance staff and broader alignment with company HR practices • Ensure HR compliance with employment law across relevant jurisdictions • Support leadership on organizational design and talent retention for regulated-function roles Training & Education (oversight of Manager, Training & Education) • Ensure GxP-mandated training programs are current, tracked, and audit-ready • Oversee onboarding and continuing education for compliance, governance, and regulatory topics • Partner with Quality Assurance on inspection-readiness training Strategic & Cross-Functional • Represent the organization in industry governance forums (PhRMA, BIO) and regulatory engagements • Prepare consolidated board/executive reporting spanning governance, legal, HR, and training metrics • Support due diligence and integration planning during M&A, licensing, or strategic partnerships Qualifications Education • Bachelor's degree required; MBA, JD, or advanced degree in life sciences/health policy strongly preferred Experience • 12–15+ years in progressively senior roles spanning governance, legal, HR, or compliance leadership • 5+ years managing multiple functional teams/managers simultaneously, ideally in pharma/biotech • Demonstrated board-level and regulatory body interaction (FDA, EMA) • Experience overseeing GxP training programs and audit readiness Skills & Competencies • Cross-functional leadership — able to credibly direct HR, Legal, Governance, and Training managers • Deep knowledge of pharma governance/compliance frameworks (GxP, Sunshine Act, PhRMA Code) • Strong budget and resource management across multiple departments • Excellent board-level and executive communication skills • High discretion in handling confidential legal, HR, and clinical information Certifications (preferred) • CCEP / CCEP-I (Compliance & Ethics) • Regulatory Affairs Certification (RAC) Show more Show less
