MISSION The System Architect – Electrical is the power distribution and electrical systems authority for assigned strategic accounts within the zone. This role owns the end-to-end electrical architecture for datacenter solutions, from primary utility input through UPS systems, distribution, monitoring, to rack-level power delivery. Working as a core member of the account fighting unit with the Key Account Manager and Segment Solution Architect, the SAE-Electrical strengthens technical positioning and drives successful deal closure. The role is accountable for electrical solution quality, code compliance, technical standards adherence, and building deep customer credibility at the electrical engineering level. Key Responsibilities Electrical System Design (Core Engineering) Design complete electrical and power distribution systems for datacenter solutions: • Primary electrical infrastructure: utility service entry, transformer sizing, switchgear selection • UPS systems: topologies (2N, N+1, dual-bus), sizing for IT + cooling loads, battery runtime calculations, modular vs. monolithic • Distribution architecture: primary/secondary distribution, PDU sizing, cable routing, voltage drop analysis • Monitoring and control: BMS integration, UPS/PDU interfaces, SNMP/Modbus protocols, alarm/alerting configuration • Grounding and bonding: single-point vs. multi-point, lightning/surge protection, rack-level grounding strategies • AI DC electrical design: GPU cluster power profiles, CDU pump load integration, power sequencing for high-density racks • Energy modeling: PUE contribution from electrical distribution, efficiency loss calculations, power factor optimization • Compliance: IEC, IEEE, NEC/local codes, Uptime Institute Tier electrical requirements, EN 50600 Market Influence & Prescription • Influence customer power architecture decisions during concept and design phases. • Drive specification of Schneider Electric Power Systems & Secure Power Solutions into consultant and customer design standards. • Engage with design institutes, engineering consultants and EPC organizations to promote Schneider Electric preferred architectures. Customer & Consultant Engagement • Lead electrical-scope technical discussions with customers; defend design decisions at engineer-to-engineer level • Conduct electrical technical workshops with design consultants; embed Schneider standards in RFP briefs • Support EPC contractor engagement: design reviews, compliance clarifications, interface resolution • Present power architecture and redundancy strategy to customer leadership and engineering teams • Build and maintain direct technical relationships with customer electrical engineering and design teams Fighting Unit & Bid Support • Work as core member of the account fighting unit: SSA (solution strategy), SAE-Electrical (power train), SAM-Mechanical (thermal train), Digital System architect and KAM (customer relationship) • Co-design with System Architect – Mechanical: align electrical loads with cooling calcs, CDU pump loads, BMS integration points • Submit qualifying bid designs through Principal Architect review; address technical feedback • Participate in win/loss debrief reviews: capture electrical decisions for standards evolution • Support solution integration: ensure power design is competitive, code-compliant, and aligned with customer needs Technical Competency Requirements Expert-level competency required across power distribution, UPS systems, and electrical compliance. This person must be the most technically credible voice in the room on electrical design (Hero Offers, MV/LV solutions, and grid expertise) when presenting to enterprise and hyperscaler engineering teams.
