Assistant Resident Engineer - Civil

Overview Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) IS responsible for supervising the construction, installation, testing, and commissioning of 132 kV and above substations, ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and schedule commitments. Your role • Supervise construction and installation activities for AIS/GIS substations (132 kV and above). • Monitor the erection of transformers, switchgear, CTs, VTs, isolators, protection panels, SCADA, and associated equipment. • Ensure compliance with approved drawings, technical specifications, and HSE requirements. • Witness testing and commissioning activities and review test reports. • Coordinate with contractors, clients, and project teams to ensure timely project delivery. • Monitor project progress and prepare site reports. • Identify and resolve technical and construction issues at site. About You • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. • 8-15 years of experience in substation projects, with significant exposure to 132 kV and above substations. • Experience in AIS/GIS substations, testing & commissioning, and construction supervision. Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or relevant discipline (from WHED-listed university). Minimum 10 years total experience, with at least 5 in site supervision of roads and infrastructure projects. Chartered/Professional Engineer (preferred) - UPDA Grade A. Excellent command of English (spoken and written). Familiar with document management systems (Ashghal DCS), MS Office, AutoCAD (viewing), and site-related software.

Support the Resident Engineer in day-to-day site supervision activities related to roadworks, drainage, utilities, or structural components. Coordinate with site inspectors to monitor contractor activities and ensure compliance with approved drawings, method statements, and specifications. Review shop drawings, RFIs, ITPs, and material submittals for assigned disciplines. Assist in preparing daily reports, maintaining site records, and tracking progress and quality observations. Monitor progress against the contractor's programme and escalate issues related to slippages or non-conformances. Participate in technical and progress meetings with the contractor and report issues to the RE. Ensure that all inspection and testing activities are conducted as per the QA/QC plan. Liaise with stakeholders and other engineering disciplines on-site to resolve coordination issues. Monitor and report on safety compliance in coordination with HSE staff.
