Secondary Drama Teacher Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE School Type: British Curriculum International School Start Date: ASAP Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Job Summary We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and creative Secondary Drama Teacher to join our dynamic Performing Arts department. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging Drama lessons across the Secondary school, fostering a love for theatre, confidence, and creative expression. Key Responsibilities • Deliver High-Quality Instruction: Plan and deliver inspiring, practical, and engaging Drama lessons following the British National Curriculum framework. • Foster Creative Expression: Teach a range of theatrical skills, including acting techniques, script analysis, improvisation, and stagecraft. • Support Student Progression: Adapt teaching methods to inspire a diverse student body across co-educational junior classes and gender-segregated senior classes. • Assess and Monitor: Set regular practical and written assessments, provide constructive feedback, and track student progress against UK curriculum standards. • Extracurricular & Productions: Lead, direct, or support school productions, theatre clubs, and extracurricular performing arts events. • Collaborate: Work collaboratively within the Performing Arts department to share resources, maintain safe studio spaces, and promote Drama within the school and wider community. Requirements & Qualifications To meet UAE Ministry of Education (MoE) approval guidelines, candidates must possess one of the following qualification pathways: • Option 1: An internationally recognized Bachelor’s Degree in Education specializing in Drama, Theatre Studies, or Performing Arts with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent. • Option 2: An internationally recognized Bachelor’s Degree in Drama, Theatre Studies, or a closely related Performing Arts discipline PLUS an internationally recognized teaching qualification such as a PGCE/PGDE with QTS or equivalent. • Option 3: An internationally recognized Bachelor’s Degree in Drama/Theatre Arts with QTS or equivalent. Additional Criteria • Experience Level: Proven experience teaching Drama within a secondary school setting is essential for this role. • Curriculum Knowledge: Deep familiarity with British National Curriculum frameworks and a strong understanding of theatrical pedagogy. • Language & Communication: Native or native-level English communication skills are required to deliver the curriculum and direct productions effectively. • Cultural Awareness: Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural adaptability, with an understanding of British international schooling and Middle Eastern cultural contexts.
