Role Description An Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, maintaining, and improving electrical systems, equipment, and infrastructure. The role supports safe, reliable, efficient, and compliant electrical operations across engineering, industrial, commercial, energy, infrastructure, and technology projects. Key responsibilities include: • Designing and developing electrical systems, circuits, equipment, and installations. • Preparing electrical drawings, schematics, layouts, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation. • Performing electrical load calculations, cable sizing, power-system analysis, protection coordination, and equipment selection. • Designing and reviewing power-distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, generators, motors, lighting, control systems, and protection systems. • Installing, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical equipment and systems. • Monitoring electrical system performance, reliability, efficiency, voltage, current, power quality, and energy consumption. • Diagnosing electrical faults, equipment failures, control-system issues, and power-distribution problems. • Developing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for electrical assets. • Coordinating with mechanical, civil, instrumentation, automation, IT, operations, and project teams. • Reviewing engineering designs, technical specifications, equipment datasheets, vendor proposals, and contractor submissions. • Supporting electrical construction, installation, commissioning, upgrades, modifications, and refurbishment projects. • Conducting inspections, testing, measurements, and quality checks to ensure electrical installations meet approved specifications. • Ensuring electrical systems comply with applicable safety standards, engineering codes, regulations, and project requirements. • Supporting electrical safety programs, risk assessments, isolation procedures, and emergency-response activities. • Monitoring contractors and suppliers to ensure electrical work is completed safely and according to approved designs. • Managing electrical equipment inventories, spare parts, maintenance records, test reports, and technical documentation. • Supporting energy-efficiency initiatives, renewable-energy integration, energy monitoring, and electrical-system optimization. • Supporting solar power, battery storage, EV charging, smart-grid, industrial automation, and other modern electrical technologies where applicable. • Using engineering software, CAD/BIM platforms, power-system analysis tools, digital monitoring systems, automation technologies, and data analytics. • Preparing technical reports, inspection reports, performance analyses, project updates, and engineering recommendations. • Investigating electrical incidents, equipment failures, and system abnormalities and implementing corrective actions. • Supporting project schedules, budgets, procurement activities, technical evaluations, and engineering coordination. • Identifying opportunities to improve system reliability, energy efficiency, safety, maintainability, and operational performance. • Continuously improving electrical engineering standards, system performance, maintenance practices, safety, and technical solutions. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related discipline. • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, power systems, electrical machines, control systems, circuits, and protection. • Knowledge of electrical distribution systems, transformers, switchgear, generators, motors, cables, protection devices, and grounding systems. • Strong analytical, mathematical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. • Ability to read and prepare electrical drawings, schematics, single-line diagrams, layouts, and technical specifications. • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, MATLAB, PSCAD, or similar engineering software is advantageous. • Knowledge of electrical testing, commissioning, preventive maintenance, and condition monitoring. • Strong understanding of electrical safety requirements, risk assessment, grounding, protection, and isolation procedures. • Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, NFPA, NEC, or other relevant electrical standards is beneficial. • Knowledge of renewable energy, energy storage, smart grids, industrial automation, IoT, and energy-management systems is advantageous. • Strong project-management, documentation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills. • Ability to work effectively with contractors, suppliers, technicians, engineers, project managers, operations teams, and regulatory authorities. • Relevant professional engineering licenses or certifications are advantageous. • Strong attention to detail, technical judgment, safety awareness, and accountability. • High level of professionalism, integrity, adaptability, and commitment to electrical safety and engineering excellence. • Show more Show less
