Title - Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Plant, Protection, SCMS & Cyber Security) Email Id - [email protected] While Applying - please mention in subjectline - Position and Location Dubai Mission The Senior Electrical Design Review Engineer is responsible for reviewing, validating, and ensuring compliance of electrical engineering designs related to Power System Plant Equipment, Protection Schemes, Cables, Substation Control & Monitoring Systems (SCMS), and Cybersecurity aspects. The role ensures alignment with international standards, client specifications, and project requirements, while mitigating technical risks and ensuring reliability, safety, and security of power infrastructure. Designate to be responsible on behalf of Consulting Engineer as Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Plant & Protection) for the company’s projects, especially the projects of Energy and Control project activities for the Company’s projects in Middel East region. Work closely with Stakeholders (Management, Client Engineers and Managers, Contractors and personnel related to the project). Implement and respect strictly Tractebel’s Ethics and compliance policies / guidelines. Reporting Lines This role reports operationally to the Product Manager T&D your job Functions (DUTIES & Responsibilities) • Carry out basic engineering and design review, for GIS Switchgear, Power Transformers, MV Switchgear, LVAC, DC System, SCMS, HV & MV Capacitor Bank, FMS, HV & MV Cables, LV & Control Cables, Physical Security System, Cyber Security System, Earthing, LSP etc ( Plant & Protection) under TAQA Network and equivalent authorities within UAE and ME. • Review all Electrical documents (Drawings, Materials, Calculations, Settings etc) within contractual period and avoid any delay in clearing submittals. • Validate design calculations (load flow, short circuit, insulation coordination). • Verify equipment specifications and vendor documents. • Review protection philosophies and schemes for transmission and distribution systems. • Validate relay coordination, protection selectivity, and settings. • Ensure proper interface between primary equipment and protection systems. • Support Local FAT & Virtual FAT related to all Electrical Equipment. • Ensure compliance with client specifications and project contract requirements. • Review vendor documents and ensure design consistency across disciplines. • Identify design risks, deviations, and propose mitigation measures. • Participate in design audits and technical reviews. • Interface with multidisciplinary teams (civil, mechanical, telecom, control). • Coordinate with Clients, Consultants, OEMs, and Contractors. • Ensure proper integration across plant, protection, SCMS, and cybersecurity systems. • Carry out the technical support for the other company’s projects, if requested to. • Carry out detailed site surveys for new substations, extension of existing substations and Cable route. • Participate in preparing Conceptual Design Reports (CDR) and cost estimates. • Participate in preparing Scope of Works and BOQ and works Tender Documents. • Undertake Technical and Commercial evaluation of Bids received related to Plant & Protection discipline. • Attend Kick off Meetings, Technical meetings, Monthly project meetings, Weekly site review meetings to ensure project complies with the specifications. • Ensure project completes within the specified period. • Assist Project Manager to prepare and issue Snag Lists, Provisional Acceptance Certificate, Final Acceptance Certificates and closeout reports. • Site inspections to clear PAC & FAC Snags Points and Warranty Defects. Your Capabilities (Degree, Experience, Other certificates if required, soft skills) Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s in Electrical & Electronics engineering from a reputable university. Experience: • Should have worked for minimum 20 years’ experience in similar roles. • Familiarity with International and local standards. • Experience in working with Substation and Cable projects (132kV– 400kV or higher). • Experience in Protection systems and relay coordination. • Experience in SCMS / SCADA System. • Experience in Physical Security & Cyber Security Systems. • Experience in Power system studies and design tools (ETAP, PSCAD, DIGSILENT). • Must be conversant with Safety Rules and procedures. Review vendor documents for cross-discipline consistency. Identify design risks and mitigation measures; participate in design audits and technical reviews. Interface with civil, mechanical, telecom, and control teams; coordinate with Clients, Consultants, OEMs, and Contractors. Ensure proper integration across plant, protection, SCMS, and cybersecurity systems. Provide technical support for other projects as needed. Conduct detailed site surveys for substations and cable routes. Participate in Conceptual Design Reports, scope of works, BOQ, and tender documents. Conduct technical and commercial evaluation of bids related to Plant & Protection. Attend kick-off, technical, monthly, and weekly project meetings to ensure compliance with specifications. Support Project Manager in issuing snag lists and handover certificates; assist with PAC/FAC closeout; perform site inspections to clear snag points and warranty defects.
