Java Architect

Job Title: Technical Architect Location: Dubai, UAE Experience: 12+ years Domain: Airlines / Airports / Travel Technology Employment Type: Full-Time About the Role We are looking for an experienced Java Architect to design and deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership, define application architecture, guide development teams, and drive best practices across Java, Cloud, microservices, and DevOps technologies. Key Responsibilities • Design enterprise application architecture using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices • Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions • Lead architecture, design reviews, and technical decision-making • Drive architecture decisions and be accountable for their implications regarding solution costs, delivery schedules, application complexity, technical debt, and overall solution performance • Own, manage, and maintain the architecture roadmap and runways of the programme, product, environments, and/or platforms • Identify, prioritize, and drive technical and architectural enhancements • Drive architectural governance, technical debt reduction, and platform modernisation • Conduct code reviews for high-quality, secure, and maintainable code • Drive cloud-native development, CI/CD, and DevOps best practices • Ensure application performance, scalability, security, and reliability • Work closely with peer architects and collaborate with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams • Prepare architecture documents, technical designs, and implementation plans • Guide and mentor development teams and promote engineering best practices, tools and techniques throughout the development process • Work together, oversee, and govern the development to ensure the development team's design and implementation align with the proposed architecture definition. Work closely with the quality engineering team to ensure that the final solution meets the agreed non-functional requirements • Develop logical infrastructure solutions in alignment with technology standards. Work closely with infrastructure teams to ensure that the physical infrastructure designed meets project requirements • Monitor industry trends, identify and evaluate relevant technologies and tools Required Skills and Experience • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field • 12+ years of Java development experience of which 5+ years in an Architect role • Practical knowledge of agile software development methodologies and enterprise architecture best practices • Experience in a large matrix organisation with global teams • Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, React, Microservices and Oracle • Expertise in Next.js, Node.js, MariaDB, PostgreSQL • Experience with REST APIs, Kafka/RabbitMQ, Solace and distributed systems • Knowledge of CI/CD tools, DevOps, and TDD, AI/ML tools • Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics • Strong expertise in one or more of the following technology domains, including Data Warehousing, Observability, Automation, Network & Infrastructure, Mobile and Frontend Technologies, Container Platforms, Enterprise Databases, Integration Solutions, Messaging Systems, Cybersecurity • Demonstrated expertise in modern architectural principles and design patterns, with hands-on experience in Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Microservices, Event-Driven and Cloud-Native Architectures, CQRS, Serverless Computing, and API-First solution design • Working knowledge of cloud well architected frameworks and best practices for cloud deployments • Understanding of cross cutting architecture capabilities such as Rules Management, Workflow Management, Security, and Governance • Ability to connect the enterprise-wide architectural vision with non-functional requirements (NFRs) and practices such as Observability, Automation, Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), and related architecture concerns • Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills • Java and Cloud certifications Show more Show less
