Modern Workplace Solutions Architect / Migration Lead Company: Throne Solutions Position: Modern Workplace Solutions Architect / Migration Lead Employment Type: Freelance Contract Work Arrangement: Contract / Project-Based Experience: 20+ Years Job Overview Throne Solutions is seeking a highly experienced Modern Workplace Solutions Architect / Migration Lead to lead enterprise-scale Microsoft cloud transformation and migration initiatives. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise across Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, Entra ID, Intune, Microsoft Teams, Exchange Online, OneDrive, Microsoft Defender, and Microsoft Purview, with a proven track record delivering large-scale data migrations, M&A tenant consolidations, divestitures, and Zero Trust security transformations. This role requires a senior technical leader capable of working directly with C-suite executives, security teams, enterprise architects, and global engineering teams. Key Responsibilities Enterprise Architecture & Strategy * Define the end-to-end architecture and technical strategy for Microsoft 365 and Modern Workplace environments. * Develop High-Level Designs (HLDs), Low-Level Designs (LLDs), governance frameworks, and operational readiness plans. * Design scalable and resilient Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Endpoint Management, and collaboration environments. * Establish operational models that support Microsoft’s continuous platform updates. * Lead technical architecture reviews and ensure alignment with enterprise standards. Large-Scale SharePoint & Data Migration * Lead large-scale SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams migrations involving 200TB–300TB+ of data. * Design migration strategies covering throttling mitigation, metadata, taxonomy, permissions, and data integrity. * Develop archival and information lifecycle strategies. * Select and configure enterprise migration tools such as Quest, ShareGate, AvePoint, or BitTitan. * Minimize downtime and user disruption during large-scale data transformations. * Monitor migration performance, data integrity, and post-migration validation. M&A & Cross-Tenant Migration * Architect Microsoft 365 tenant-to-tenant (T2T) migration and consolidation strategies. * Design tenant separation and carve-out solutions for divestitures. * Support M&A-related Microsoft 365 transformations and cross-organization coexistence. * Design cross-tenant access and synchronization strategies. * Plan domain, mailbox, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and identity migrations. * Ensure business continuity throughout tenant consolidation and separation activities. Identity & Security Architecture * Integrate Zero Trust principles across Modern Workplace solutions. * Architect Microsoft Entra ID, Hybrid Identity, Conditional Access, SSO, and Identity Governance solutions. * Design identity lifecycle management and access control frameworks. * Work closely with Security and Risk teams to implement enterprise security requirements. * Integrate Microsoft Defender and Purview capabilities into workplace environments. Endpoint & Device Modernization * Lead enterprise endpoint modernization initiatives using Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager. * Design Windows 11 deployment and Windows Autopilot strategies. * Support SCCM/Configuration Manager and Intune co-management environments. * Define secure device onboarding and provisioning processes. * Implement device compliance, application protection, and endpoint security policies. Infrastructure & Network Integration * Validate network dependencies required for optimal Microsoft 365 performance. * Review DNS resolution and routing requirements. * Assess proxy configurations, bypass requirements, and network connectivity. * Support identity-driven network access and hybrid connectivity designs. * Work with network engineering teams to resolve infrastructure dependencies.
