HIB Re is looking for a Junior Accountant to join its Finance team and assist the Finance Manager with the day-to-day accounting and financial activities of a reinsurance broking business. This position is suitable for someone at an early stage of their career who is keen to learn and develop practical experience in insurance and reinsurance accounting. Key Responsibilities - Assist the Finance Manager with day-to-day accounting activities. - Record and reconcile reinsurance premiums, brokerage, claims, receivables and payables. - Assist with preparation of invoices, statements of account and payment documentation. - Follow up on outstanding receivables and payments. - Assist with payments to reinsurers, cedants and other business partners. - Perform bank and account reconciliations and identify outstanding or unmatched items. - Coordinate with Reinsurance Operations and Placement teams to ensure accounting records and supporting documents are complete and accurate. - Maintain proper accounting records and supporting documentation. - Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities. - Support the Finance Manager with management reports, audit requirements and regulatory reporting. - Maintain confidentiality of financial, company and client information. - Provide general accounting and administrative support to the Finance Manager as required. Candidate Profile - Minimum Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field. - 0–2 years of relevant experience, fresh graduates with suitable qualifications may also apply. - Good understanding of basic accounting principles. - Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel. - Good written and spoken English. - Additional language skills, including Arabic, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi or Urdu, would be an advantage. - Willingness to learn and develop within the insurance and reinsurance industry. - Previous insurance, reinsurance or financial services experience would be an advantage but is not mandatory.
