Job Purpose: This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing a robust data architecture that aligns with GPSSA’s strategic objectives. The role focuses on developing and maintaining enterprise-wide data frameworks to ensure data integrity, accessibility, and security across the organization. It involves formulating detailed data architecture blueprints and roadmaps to guide data-related initiatives, ensuring IT projects meet both business needs and technical requirements. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Core Responsibilities Data Architecture Development • Assists in designing and implementing data architecture blueprints and roadmaps to guide data-related IT projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and enterprise strategies. • Collaborates with business and technology teams to develop and maintain a data strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and objectives. • Defines data architecture principles, standards, and guidelines. • Designs data integration processes, including Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) workflows, to move data between systems and ensure data consistency. Data Optimization and Consolidation • Identifies opportunities to consolidate and optimize data platforms across GPSSA, enhancing data management, accessibility, and integration. • Evaluates third-party vendors and technology solutions to ensure compatibility with GPSSA’s data architecture strategy and alignment with business requirements. • Optimizes data storage for efficiency and cost savings. Requirement Definition and Collaboration • Collaborates with stakeholders to define data requirements, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with long-term business objectives. • Oversees the design and implementation of data solutions, bridging the gap between business needs and the technical capabilities of data platforms. • Collaborates with the security team to implement data security measures such as access control, encryption, and data masking to protect sensitive information. • Works with the Data & AI department to maintain the data catalog. • Designs data storage, integration, and retrieval solutions to meet business needs. Governance and Compliance • Manages and maintains the data governance framework. • Contributes to the development and maintenance of enterprise architecture frameworks with a focus on data systems, ensuring integration with applications, infrastructure, and security domains. • Manages and maintains data architecture principles, standards, and guidelines. • Implements and enforces data architecture governance processes to ensure compliance with organizational data standards and best practices. • Works closely with business analysts, data scientists, developers, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and provide tailored data solutions. • Validates data models (conceptual, logical, and physical) that represent the organization’s data assets. • Ensures data profiling, cleansing, and validation processes are accurate and effective. • Ensures adherence to industry regulations and standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework), and ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) in the context of data management and governance practices. • Establishes and enforces data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, consistency, and regulatory compliance. Technology Optimization • Evaluates cloud-based data solutions to meet GPSSA’s strategic data management needs, with a focus on data consistency, integration, scalability, and performance. • Reviews IT projects with a data focus and provides actionable recommendations to optimize data architecture and align with organizational goals. Strategic Data Planning and Initiatives • Contributes to enterprise-wide master planning by identifying gaps in data capabilities and developing actionable roadmaps to address them. • Collaborates with the Manager of Digital Strategy and IT development teams to ensure data initiatives align with the enterprise architecture framework. • Monitors and evaluates emerging data technologies to assess their potential impact on GPSSA’s data operations and provides strategic recommendations for innovation and adoption. Self-Management Responsibilities • Defines performance goals at the start of the year in discussion with the Line Manager and ensures that the goals are achieved during the course of the year. • Identifies the training and development requirements for self and agrees on them with the Line Manager to ensure that the required trainings are arranged and attended. • Strives to achieve the highest levels of proficiency on all the competencies and skills required to perform the role. • Keeps abreast of professional developments, new techniques and current issues through continued education and professional growth.
