LevelUP HCS
We’re hiring an experienced Systems Engineer – Avionics Software Development to support the design, development, integration, and verification of mission-critical software for advanced UAV platforms. This is an opportunity to work on complex avionics systems across flight control, communications, navigation, sensor integration, and certification support. About the role • You will help define software requirements, design real-time avionics software architectures, and support the full software development lifecycle for safety-critical aerospace systems. • You will collaborate with systems, hardware, test, cybersecurity, and quality teams to deliver robust, compliant software solutions for UAV environments. • You will contribute to integration, simulation, hardware-in-the-loop testing, verification, validation, and certification documentation aligned with DO-178C/ED-12C expectations. What you’ll do Key responsibilities include: • Define and manage avionics software requirements aligned to operational, safety, and certification objectives. • Design robust real-time software architectures for flight control, communications, navigation, and sensor-related systems. • Develop embedded avionics software using C/C++ or comparable languages and frameworks. • Integrate and test software using simulation environments, automated test scripts, test benches, and HIL platforms. • Lead verification and validation activities across unit, integration, and system levels. • Prepare and contribute to certification documentation and participate in technical design reviews. • Mentor junior engineers and support continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and technical leadership. What we’re looking for • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline; a master’s degree in Avionics Software, Embedded Systems, or Systems Engineering is advantageous. • Extensive experience in embedded or avionics software development within aerospace, defence, UAV, or safety-critical environments. • Strong understanding of the full software lifecycle, software assurance, and certification-focused engineering practices. • Experience with DO-178C/ED-12C, INCOSE ASEP/CSEP, or embedded-systems cybersecurity credentials would be beneficial. Technical experience • C, C++, embedded software development frameworks, RTOS platforms, and avionics middleware. • Configuration and lifecycle tools such as Git, Jenkins, JIRA, and DOORS. • Simulation, automated testing, integration test benches, and hardware-in-the-loop systems. • Protocols such as ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, CAN, and Ethernet. You’ll thrive in this role if you are: • A systems thinker with strong avionics domain knowledge and a safety-first mindset. • Confident in debugging, root-cause analysis, documentation, and stakeholder communication. • Comfortable working in collaborative, cross-functional, fast-paced engineering teams. If you have deep avionics software expertise and want to contribute to advanced UAV technology in a mission-critical environment, we’d be interested in hearing from you. Show more Show less
