Category All Clear Select how often (in days) to receive an alert: Create Alert × Select how often (in days) to receive an alert: Apply now » Mechanical Technician Date: Sep 11, 2026 Location: SA Job Description: Mechanical Technician Department / Plant Plant - Maintenance Reporting To Supervisor/Engineer - Mechanical Job Summary Works under the direction of Mechanical Supervisor/Engineer, to execute all Preventive, Corrective and Condition based maintenance activities, annual outage and overhauling work activities on plant equipment with strict adherence to safety. Roles & Responsibilities Comply with NOMAC safety rules and regulations. Perform all the maintenance activities in the plant in a timely and safe manner with strict adherence to the maintenance procedures and work instructions applicable for the respective activities. Document maintenance concerns/history for the equipment. Report to Mechanical Supervisor for spare parts and consumables required for the activities and update spares availability to cope up with the maintenance requirements. Ensure proper isolations are carried out before starting the maintenance activity on the respective equipment released for maintenance in coordination with Mechanical Supervisor and local operator. Trouble-shoot and diagnose problems and perform maintenance on equipment under his jurisdiction. Installs, adjusts, inspects, services and repairs a variety of static and rotating mechanical equipment utilized in power and desalination plants. Responsible and accountable for proper care of tools, lifting equipment or any other related devices which are required to carry out his assigned jobs. Carry out all necessary preparation required for mechanical maintenance to equipment/area assigned to him. Understand working knowledge of equipment operation and associated operating systems. Perform 5S housekeeping in his area of work. Perform other duties as assigned. Job Specifications Educational Desired Diploma in Mechanical Engineering OR Worked as Skilled Mechanical Labor in NOMAC plants for a minimum of 4 years Preferred Bachelor of Engineering Minimum Experience Minimum 4 years in the same position OR Worked as Skilled Mechanical Labor in NOMAC plants for a minimum of 4 years Preferable Extensive Experience as Mechanical Technician in any of the following type: Conventional, Combined Cycle, Cogeneration, Water Desalination Plants like RO, MSF, MED etc., and Renewable Energy type (Solar, Wind Mills etc.) plants. Required Skills Generic awareness of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety and Environment Management System principles. Be able to work both independently and in a team environment, completing objectives efficiently with a sense of responsibility. Be able and willing to work in non-ideal environments such as confined spaces, working at heights and around chemicals. Understand, practice and enforce safe work practices related to respiratory protection, elevated work platforms, fall protection, control of hazardous energy (Lockout/Tag-out procedure), fire protection systems, electrical safety, forklift/hoist operation, welding, cutting, brazing, confined space entry, PPE etc. Knowledge of identification, classification and disposal of waste. Knowledge of environmental and health impact of chemicals being used in the plant. Knowledge of firefighting equipment. Knowledge of First Aid measures. Basic Knowledge on Power/Water plant operational activities. Basic computer skills. Desired Certification / Job Specific Skill / Training ISO 9001, 14001, OHSAS 18001 awareness/working knowledge is preferred. Work Condition Ready to work in remote location. Preferable Extensive Experience as Mechanical Technician in Conventional, Combined Cycle, Cogeneration, Water Desalination Plants (RO, MSF, MED, etc.) and Renewable Energy plants (Solar, Wind). Required Skills include quality, occupational health & safety, and environment management system awareness; ability to work independently and in a team; willingness to work in confined spaces, at heights, and around chemicals; safe work practices including Lockout/Tag-out, firefighting equipment, electrical safety, PPE, First Aid; basic knowledge of power/water plant operations; basic computer skills. Desired Certifications: ISO 9001, 14001, OHSAS 18001 awareness/working knowledge preferable.
