JOB PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE Lead and oversee all electrical pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities, providing technical authority during system energization, integration, troubleshooting, and final handover to all electrical systems on the new‑build offshore jack‑up drilling rig, including power generation and distribution, drilling drive systems, and marine electrical components, in alignment with class requirements (ABS/DNV) and offshore regulatory standards to ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient completion, certification, and operational readiness of all electrical systems in accordance with project specifications and handover requirements. The position provides technical leadership to commissioning teams and acts as a primary interface between construction, engineering, vendors, and the client. This position is responsible for executing onsite Pre-Commissioning and Commissioning activities and supporting the team in all onsite tasks. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES • Develop commissioning procedures, test packs, ITRs, system boundaries, and commissioning schedules while reviewing all electrical engineering deliverables to ensure full readiness and compliance. • Plan and coordinate all electrical commissioning activities in alignment with QHSE and SIMOPS requirements and participate in design reviews, HAZOP/HAZID, FATs, and readiness reviews with class authorities and vendors. • Lead commissioning of power generation and distribution systems, including generators, alternators, AVRs, HV/LV switchboards, MCCs, and distribution boards. • Perform protection relay testing, load tests, blackout recovery tests, and commission the PMS to validate system protection and automated power management. • Commission drilling and machinery drive systems, verify interlocks and functional logic, and ensure full integration between electrical drives and mechanical drilling equipment. • Commission marine and jacking system electrical components, including jacking/skidding systems, preload instrumentation, motors, brake controls, ballast/bilge systems, navigation lights, and emergency systems. • Conduct cause-and-effect testing for ESD and F&G systems, verify integration with BOP controls and UPS/emergency power systems, and inspect hazardous-area equipment for IECEx/ATEX compliance. • Lead all electrical testing and energization activities—including continuity checks, insulation resistance tests, loop checks, and cable meagering—while troubleshooting faults and coordinating vendor support. • Enforce electrical safety procedures (LOTO, PTW, JSA) and ensure compliance with ABS/DNV, API, IEC, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Education • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline. Professional Qualifications (Certifications & Accreditations) • Omega 365 PIMS knowledge will benefit. • Drilling Equipment & Power Systems knowledge will benefit. • PMP Certificate will benefit. Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities) • Strong knowledge of: o Generator packages (Caterpillar, Wärtsilä, MAN, etc.) o VFD drives for drilling (NOV, ABB, Siemens, MH Wirth) o PMS, ESD, F&G, and integrated control systems (Kongsberg, Yokogawa, Siemens). • Experience with jack-up jacking electrical systems (NOV/LeTourneau/Bauer). • Familiarity with completion management systems (Omega, PIMS). • Offshore certifications (BOSIET/FOET/HUET + OGUK) preferred. • Comprehensive knowledge of hazardous area equipment (IECEx/ATEX). • Strong leadership, communication, and troubleshooting skills. • Expertise in power generation, distribution, and drilling electrical systems. • Strong understanding of jack-up-jacking electrical systems. • System integration & advanced troubleshooting. • Vendor/OEM coordination. • Class compliance & hazardous area knowledge. • Leadership & team supervision. • Strong offshore HSE mindset. Requirements: Experience • Minimum 12 years’ experience in electrical commissioning on new build offshore rigs. (Jack-up Rig) Languages • Excellent Communication Skills (oral and written) in the English.
