Train Driver (Emiratized) - Trainee

Position Overview: • The Trainee Driver will be developed into the train drivers of the future, full theory and practical training will be given. • As a Train Driver you be able to work alone, be required to maintain high levels of concentration at all times and be willing to accept the high level of responsibility associated with the role. • To do this successfully, you’ll need to be safety conscious and able to deal with pressurized situations and emergencies. But you’ll also be required to work as a team player, communicating with the Control function and delivering excellent customer service skills at all times. • Shift work will be required on a rotating shift basis with a 24/7 cover ratio. • You will receive extensive training in order to drive our trains across the UAE network and you will have to pass minimum medical criteria for health and safety reasons, including specific visual and hearing standards. • Psychometric evaluation will also be a prerequisite for the post. Roles and Responsibility once qualified: • Deliver high levels of service performance in the promotion of safe working conditions and practices so as to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and Contractors operating on Etihad Rail DB infrastructure. • Ensure the safe, reliable and punctual movements of trains, in both normal and degraded circumstances are performed to requirements of the Etihad Rail DB Safety Management System. • Create and deliver plans to continuously develop the skills and knowledge of new entrants. • Identify and record all irregularities including equipment faults and failures and implement actions to address. • Provide real-time information updates to the Train Operations Supervisor on performance and safety related matters. • Liaise with customer facility staff as necessary to promote a safe and reliable and punctual operation. • Support the training and development of new entrants to the industry. • Maintain current train driver competence • Carry out shunting and train preparation duties as required to deliver the maintenance and service plan. • This role will be part of a flexible shift pattern as directed by the business Qualifications, skills and experience. Academic Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree or High School certificate Desirable Qualifications: • Knowledge of OHS standard • Knowledge of European Train Control System (ETCS) • Knowledge of competence management systems • Good planning skills • Basic mechanical, electrical and pneumatic knowledge Other Skills: • English as first language or advanced level of written and verbal skill, • Good Medical Fitness, • Able to successfully complete Psychometric Evaluation, • Full UAE driving license or ability to achieve competence, • Analytical skills for problem solving, • Ability to writing comprehensive reports, IT literate.
