Established in partnership with UK’s Moorfields Eye Hospital, Moorfields Eye Hospital Abu Dhabi brings 200 years of specialist eye care experience to the United Arab Emirates. Founded in London in 1804, Moorfields is considered the oldest and one of the largest centers for ophthalmic treatment, teaching and research in the world. The Registered Nurse provides specialized ophthalmic nursing care to patients undergoing eye assessments, treatments, and procedures. The role involves supporting consultants during clinical and diagnostic procedures, educating patients and families, monitoring patient outcomes, and ensuring a safe, compassionate, and efficient care experience in line with organizational and DOH standards. The nurse collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to promote excellence in eye care and enhance patient outcomes. Responsibilities Deliver specialized ophthalmic nursing care through patient assessment, treatment planning, implementation of care, and ongoing monitoring of patients with eye conditions. Assist ophthalmologists during diagnostic, therapeutic, and minor surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and positive clinical outcomes. Prepare patients, instruments, equipment, consumables, and implants for ophthalmic procedures and surgeries. Perform scrub and circulating nurse duties during ophthalmic surgical procedures while maintaining a sterile environment and adhering to surgical safety standards. Administer medications and provide pre- and post-procedure nursing care in accordance with approved clinical protocols. Educate patients and families on eye health, treatment plans, medication management, postoperative care, and preventive practices to support optimal outcomes. Maintain accurate clinical documentation and collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care and efficient patient flow. Ensure compliance with M42, DOH, infection prevention, and patient safety standards while contributing to quality improvement initiatives and departmental performance goals. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Registered Nurse with a valid professional UAE nursing license or eligibility to get one. Previous ophthalmology operating theatre experience is essential. Experience in scrub and/or circulating nursing. Experience with ophthalmic surgical procedures, particularly cataract surgery, is preferred. Strong knowledge of infection prevention, aseptic technique, and surgical safety. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Arabic-speaking candidates are preferred.
