## Description

M42 — Overview Job Summary The Facility Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation, maintenance, safety, and continuous improvement of the hospital’s facilities and infrastructure. The role ensures that all building systems, utilities, equipment, and support services operate efficiently and comply with applicable healthcare, regulatory, safety, and accreditation requirements. In addition to facility operations, the Facility Manager will lead and coordinate construction, renovation, expansion, and refurbishment projects within the hospital, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and without disruption to patient care services. The role supports an environment caring for long-term care, post-acute rehabilitation, and medically complex patients requiring a safe, compliant, and highly functional healthcare setting Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Facilities Operations & Maintenance Manage all hospital facilities, utilities, and engineering services, including HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, medical gases, generators, fire protection systems, elevators, and building infrastructure. Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programmes. Ensure uninterrupted operation of critical healthcare infrastructure and utilities. Monitor facility performance through routine inspections and maintenance audits. Manage outsourced facility management service providers and contractors. Ensure all maintenance activities are documented and completed according to established standards. Establish service level agreements and monitor vendor performance. Construction & Project Management Lead construction, renovation, fit-out, refurbishment, and facility expansion projects. Coordinate with consultants, architects, engineers, contractors, and government authorities throughout project lifecycles. Review architectural, engineering, and MEP drawings to ensure compliance with healthcare operational requirements. Monitor project progress, budgets, timelines, quality standards, and contractor performance. Ensure projects are executed with minimal disruption to patient care and hospital operations. Conduct project risk assessments and implement mitigation plans. Manage project handover, snagging, commissioning, and close-out processes. Regulatory Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with NHRA requirements, Civil Defence regulations, Ministry regulations, occupational health and safety standards, and accreditation requirements. Oversee fire and life safety systems testing, inspections, and certification. Lead facility readiness initiatives for regulatory inspections and accreditation surveys. Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety policies. Conduct facility risk assessments and implement corrective actions as necessary. Support emergency preparedness, disaster recovery, and business continuity programmes. Budget & Asset Management Prepare and manage annual facilities and capital expenditure budgets. Monitor maintenance and project expenditures against approved budgets. Develop long-term asset replacement and lifecycle management plans. Ensure effective utilisation and maintenance of hospital assets and infrastructure. Identify opportunities for cost optimisation while maintaining service quality and compliance. Leadership & Stakeholder Management Lead, develop, and supervise facilities, maintenance, and technical staff. Provide technical guidance to internal stakeholders regarding facility planning and infrastructure requirements. Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical departments to ensure operational needs are met. Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, contractors, consultants, and regulatory authorities. Participate in strategic planning for future facility development and expansion. Qualifications Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Facilities Management, or a related discipline. Master's Degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Project Management, or Business Administration is preferred. Professional Certifications (Preferred) Certified Facility Manager (CFM). Project Management Professional (PMP). NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent Health & Safety certification. Healthcare Facilities Management certifications are advantageous. Experience Minimum 10+ years of facilities management experience. At least 3-5 years of experience within a healthcare, hospital, rehabilitation, or long-term care environment. Proven experience managing healthcare construction, renovation, fit-out, or expansion projects. Experience managing large multidisciplinary contractor and vendor teams. Strong understanding of healthcare facility operations and compliance requirements.
