## Description

M42 — Overview Job Summary The Physiotherapist is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating physiotherapy interventions for patients requiring long-term care, post-acute rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation, respiratory rehabilitation, and complex medical management. The role focuses on maximising functional independence, improving mobility, preventing complications associated with prolonged immobility, and enhancing patients’ quality of life through evidence-based physiotherapy interventions within a multidisciplinary environment. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities Perform comprehensive physiotherapy assessments and develop individualized treatment plans. Evaluate patients' functional abilities, mobility limitations, strength, balance, coordination, and endurance. Design and implement evidence-based rehabilitation programmes based on patient goals and clinical needs. Provide physiotherapy interventions for neurological, orthopaedic, respiratory, geriatric, and medically complex patients. Deliver gait training, transfer training, mobility re-education, balance training, and therapeutic exercise programmes. Prescribe, monitor, and educate patients on the use of mobility aids and adaptive equipment. Participate in respiratory physiotherapy interventions, including airway clearance techniques and chest physiotherapy where appropriate. Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans to achieve optimal functional outcomes. Prevent and manage complications related to immobility, including contractures, deconditioning, falls, and pressure injuries. Prepare discharge recommendations and home exercise programmes as part of transition-of-care planning. Multidisciplinary Collaboration Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, ward rounds, and patient care conferences. Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, speech therapists, respiratory therapists, dietitians, and case managers. Contribute to goal setting and rehabilitation planning for each patient. Support caregivers and families through education and training regarding mobility and rehabilitation needs. Documentation & Quality Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive patient documentation. Ensure treatment records comply with organizational policies, NHRA requirements, and professional practice standards. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and service development activities. Assist in achieving organizational accreditation and patient safety goals. Adhere to infection prevention and control policies at all times. Education & Professional Development Educate patients, families, and caregivers regarding rehabilitation plans and therapy goals. Participate in continuous professional development activities and mandatory training programmes. Support the orientation and mentoring of junior physiotherapists, students, and rehabilitation staff as required. Qualifications Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy from a recognized university. Master's Degree in Physiotherapy or Rehabilitation Sciences is desirable. Experience Minimum 2-5 years of clinical physiotherapy experience. Experience in long-term care, inpatient rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation, geriatrics, or acute care settings preferred. Experience managing medically complex and mobility-impaired patients is highly desirable. Licensure Eligible for Physiotherapist Licensure with the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA), Bahrain. Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

## Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy from a recognized university. Master's Degree in Physiotherapy or Rehabilitation Sciences is desirable. Experience: Minimum 2-5 years of clinical physiotherapy experience. Experience in long-term care, inpatient rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation, geriatrics, or acute care settings preferred. Experience managing medically complex and mobility-impaired patients is highly desirable. Licensure: Eligible for Physiotherapist Licensure with the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA), Bahrain. Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
