Database Architect

Experience: 6+ years of relevant experience, including 2+ years in a Database Architecture or similar role.

Location: UAE

Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Database Architect to lead the design and technical governance of enterprise database platforms across Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL environments. This is a hands-on architecture role covering database design, High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), performance, security, backup and recovery, replication, and capacity planning. The role will ensure database platforms are scalable, secure, resilient, high-performing, and recoverable.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead database architecture and solution design across Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL environments.

• Define database architecture, topology, standards, configurations, and technical guidelines.

• Design and govern High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.

• Define database security, patching, backup, recovery, and performance standards.

• Design and manage database backup, recovery, and replication strategies.

• Develop database capacity and performance models to support scalability and availability.

• Design database solutions using technologies such as Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, RMAN, and SQL Server Always On Availability Groups.

• Develop and maintain High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) documentation.

• Ensure database solutions integrate effectively with storage, virtualization, application, and infrastructure platforms.

• Conduct database performance, resilience, and architecture reviews.

• Provide technical guidance to DBAs and engineering teams across multiple database technologies.

• Evaluate database technologies and provide technical recommendations.

• Review database implementations to ensure alignment with approved architecture, security, and technical standards.

• Support troubleshooting and resolution of complex database performance, availability, backup, and recovery issues.

Technical Requirements

• Strong experience with Oracle Database, including RMAN, Data Guard, RAC, ASM, instance tuning, and SQL tuning.

• Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including Always On Availability Groups, failover clustering, backup/restore, and query tuning.

• Experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL, including HA, backup/recovery, performance tuning, and replication.

• Strong understanding of database High Availability and Disaster Recovery architecture.

• Experience with database backup, recovery, replication, security, and patching strategies.

• Strong knowledge of capacity planning and performance modelling.

• Experience integrating database environments with storage and virtualization platforms.

• Experience producing HLD, LLD, architecture diagrams, and technical standards.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

• 6+ years of relevant experience, including at least 2+ years in Database Architecture or a similar role.

• Oracle OCP and/or relevant Microsoft SQL certification is preferred.

• ITIL 4 Foundation is preferred.

• Oracle OCM or other advanced database certifications are an advantage.

• Strong technical leadership and team collaboration skills.

• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
