Software Engineer – Backend

Work Details

• Remote (global- candidates from all over the world can apply)

• Contractor

• Approximately 15 hours per week

• Flexible schedule — choose your own hours and days

• Weekend availability is also possible

• Immediate availability preferred

• Minimum weekly task submission requirements apply

We are looking for strong Backend Software Engineers to contribute to projects focused on training and evaluating next-generation AI systems.

Prior AI/ML experience is not required. We are primarily looking for engineers with strong hands-on coding ability, backend development experience, and excellent problem-solving skills.

About the Role

You will use your software engineering expertise to create realistic and challenging coding tasks and develop reliable solutions and deterministic verifiers for evaluating AI-generated code.

Your work may involve:

• Feature implementation

• Bug fixing and debugging

• Codebase refactoring

• Performance optimization

• Algorithms and data structures

• Backend services and APIs

• Automated testing

• Code review

• Test and verifier development

Required Skills

Strong hands-on experience with one or more of:

• Python 3

• Java

• Rust

• TypeScript / Node.js

• Go

• C++

We are particularly interested in candidates with:

• Strong algorithms and data structures fundamentals

• Backend service and API development experience

• Proven debugging and bug-fixing experience

• Experience implementing complex features

• Experience refactoring existing codebases

• Performance optimization experience

• Automated testing experience

• Strong code review judgment

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ability to understand and work with unfamiliar codebases

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with multiple programming languages

• Large-scale or distributed backend systems experience

• Performance-critical application experience

• Experience with complex or mature codebases

• Test frameworks, validation systems, or automated evaluation experience

• Developer tooling experience

• AI/LLM evaluation or AI engineering experience

AI/ML experience is not mandatory.

Selected candidates should be prepared to begin their first tasks within 24–48 hours after completing onboarding.
