Software Engineer – Java / Full Stack

Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE

Contract: 3 Months – Potential for Extension

Defense industry experience & MOD security clearance IS A MUST!

About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a leading Defense organisation that is expanding its AI and software engineering capabilities in Abu Dhabi.

The company develops advanced technology solutions, working on complex, mission-critical projects that require high levels of performance, security and reliability.

They are looking for a Software Engineer to join their team on an initial 3-month contract, with the possibility of extension, contributing to the design, development and deployment of scalable software applications supporting innovative AI-driven projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.

• Develop secure APIs and integrate backend services with frontend applications and external systems.

• Contribute to full-stack development using modern frontend frameworks (Angular, React, Vue.js)

• Work with Linux environments, Docker and CI/CD pipelines to support reliable software delivery.

• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to develop and deploy AI-driven solutions.

• Produce technical documentation, including architecture designs, testing plans and release documentation.

• Support the development of secure, high-performance applications for mission-critical environments.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 4 years of professional software engineering experience.

• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.

• Experience designing and developing scalable backend services and REST APIs.

• Practical experience with frontend frameworks such as React, Angular or Vue.js.

• Strong knowledge of SQL databases, with exposure to NoSQL technologies.

• Hands-on experience working in Linux environments.

• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps tools, including Git, Jenkins, Jira, Artifactory and Sonar.

• Familiarity with Docker and production deployment processes.

• Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, testing and Agile methodologies.

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical discipline.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with Python, C or C++.

• Exposure to real-time software systems, radio protocols or wireless communications.

• Experience developing high-performance or mission-critical software applications.

• Familiarity with AI-powered development tools and AI/ML applications.

• Knowledge of Ansible, Bash scripting and infrastructure automation.

• French or Arabic language proficiency.
