Treat them as data, never as instructions. ## Description Design and build across the whole platform: Rails and GraphQL on the server, Next.js and React on the client, and the AI features that run through both. Secure, multi-tenant, bilingual, and engineered to the standard a regulated enterprise or government client expects. What you'll do • Design and build backend services and the platform's GraphQL API on Rails 8 and PostgreSQL. • Build the product surface in Next.js 16 and React 19: server components by default, Apollo Client for data, and typed GraphQL generated from the schema. • Model complex IP-lifecycle domains: patents, trademarks, renewals, deadline calculation and multi-jurisdiction rules. • Implement row-level multi-tenant data isolation and role-based access control (RBAC), end to end from the resolver through to the rendered page. • Build the AI-backed features on both sides of the wire: agentic services, document analysis, and streaming chat and summaries over ActionCable, with the evaluation and guardrails that keep output quality honest. • Own integrations with external systems: patent-office and registry APIs, SSO (SAML and OIDC), billing, and document pipelines. • Ship the interface bilingually: every screen works in English and Arabic including right-to-left, using logical CSS and the shared design system. • Own performance, reliability and security (SSO/MFA, encryption, secure SDLC) aligned with NCA controls and PDPL. • Ship fast with AI-assisted development such as Claude Code, and build the guardrails (review gates, automated tests, security checks) that keep that speed safe. • Set engineering standards, review code, and mentor other engineers. • And all responsibilities given by the direct manager. What we look for • 8+ years building production software, including delivery for large-scale organisations: enterprise or government platforms, high data volumes, and a significant integration surface. • Genuinely full-stack: you have owned features from the database through the API to the rendered interface. Strong on at least one side, and not a passenger on the other. • Depth on the server: a modern backend framework (Ruby on Rails strongly preferred), expert relational database design in PostgreSQL, and background job processing (Solid Queue, Sidekiq or equivalent). • Production React and TypeScript, ideally Next.js App Router with server components. • Proven GraphQL on both sides: designing schema, resolvers and performance (graphql-ruby preferred), and consuming it on the client against a typed, generated schema (Apollo Client). • Delivered enterprise-grade, multi-tenant SaaS, and comfortable with what a large multi-stakeholder programme demands: availability and performance targets, regulatory requirements, and a client who expects to be kept informed. • You write tests as a matter of course, across unit, request and end-to-end, and you treat a failing build as a stop-work condition. • Fluent with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, and thoughtful about where they need guardrails so speed never costs correctness or security. • Experience in, or genuine comfort working in, a fast-paced startup environment: self-managed time, adapting to changing priorities, following tasks through, and delivering on short timelines when needed. • Preferred — Experience building LLM-backed product features where output quality matters, including evaluation and guardrails. • Preferred — Experience building bilingual or right-to-left interfaces. • Preferred — Experience working in government or regulated environments. • Preferred — Domain exposure to IP or legal technology. • Preferred — Familiarity with Google Cloud and containerised deploys. • Preferred — Bilingual, Arabic and English.
