About the role Position Title: Senior Consultant Geophysicist-Seismic Data Processing Work Location: Kuwait Department: On-sync Energy Management Services Company. Job Responsibilities • Define and manage seismic data processing workflows for 2D and 3D land, marine, and transition-zone datasets. • Establish and quality-control critical processing steps, including geometry QC, noise attenuation, amplitude and statics corrections, deconvolution, multiple attenuation, velocity model building, and migration. • Lead advanced depth-imaging workflows, including Pre-Stack Depth Migration (PSDM), Reverse Time Migration (RTM), and Full Waveform Inversion (FWI). • Evaluate and manage seismic processing contractors through technical assessments, benchmarking, tender evaluations, and performance reviews. • Lead seismic reprocessing projects and integrate legacy datasets with modern acquisition and processing workflows. • Conduct rigorous quality control at all processing stages and review contractor processing reports, velocity models, conditioned gathers, and migrated volumes. • Apply advanced signal-analysis techniques to assess processing quality and identify artefacts or inconsistencies. • Ensure seismic processing deliverables meet recognized industry data standards, quality requirements, and data-management practices. • Work closely with geoscience interpretation teams to support structural, stratigraphic, and integrated subsurface studies. • Provide conditioned full-stack and angle-stack seismic volumes to support attribute analysis, AVO/AVAz, inversion, and interpretation workflows. • Provide technical input to well-tie, seismic-to-well calibration, and integrated subsurface studies. • Evaluate and support the adoption of AI/ML-assisted seismic processing technologies, including automated noise suppression, machine-learning velocity picking, and AI-enhanced FWI. • Assess high-performance computing and cloud-based processing platforms for improved scalability, efficiency, and cost effectiveness. • Contribute to digital geoscience transformation initiatives and evaluation of emerging seismic processing technologies. • Prepare technical reports, processing updates, QC documentation, milestone reviews, processing parameter reports, and final deliverable metadata. • Conduct technical training and knowledge-sharing sessions to develop advanced seismic processing capabilities within the geoscience team. • Represent the organization in relevant technical forums and contribute to technical publications where appropriate. • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams and provide expert guidance on complex seismic processing challenges. Qualification Requirements • PhD in Geophysics, Geoscience, Engineering, or a closely related discipline. • Minimum 20 years of professional Upstream Oil & Gas experience, with extensive experience in seismic data processing and E&P activities. • Preferably 25+ years of international Upstream experience with major and independent E&P companies and/or research institutions. • Extensive expertise in 2D/3D seismic processing, including land, marine, and transition-zone datasets. • Strong knowledge of advanced processing and imaging techniques, including PSDM, RTM, FWI, multiple attenuation, velocity model building, and seismic signal analysis. • Proven experience managing seismic processing contractors, technical evaluations, benchmarking studies, and large-scale reprocessing projects. • Strong understanding of seismic QC, data standards, processing deliverables, and subsurface data quality assurance. • Experience supporting seismic interpretation, AVO/AVAz, inversion, well-tie, and integrated subsurface workflows. • Experience with AI/ML-assisted seismic processing, HPC, cloud-based processing, and digital geoscience technologies is highly desirable. • Proven ability to develop, scope, plan, and manage complex technical programs and multidisciplinary projects. • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams comprising geophysicists, geologists, geochemists, reservoir engineers, and other technical specialists. • Strong leadership, analytical, strategic thinking, problem-solving, communication, organizational, and stakeholder-management skills. • Excellent English communication and technical report-writing skills. • A strong record of technical publications in recognized geoscience or industry journals is preferred. • Middle East experience is an advantage.
