About the role Position Title: Consultant - Geophysicist Work Location: Kuwait Department: On-sync Energy Management Services Company. Job Responsibilities • Provide expert advice on seismic acquisition, processing, interpretation, and application of geophysical data for exploration and development activities. • Design and plan 2D and 3D seismic acquisition programs, optimizing survey geometry, data quality, cost, and exploration risk. • Evaluate and recommend appropriate geophysical acquisition techniques based on exploration objectives, geological conditions, and subsurface challenges. • Review seismic data processing workflows and perform quality control of acquired and processed seismic data. • Validate final seismic volumes and ensure data quality and suitability for interpretation and subsurface modelling. • Provide technical guidance on Quantitative Interpretation (QI) and seismic reservoir prediction workflows. • Conduct and review seismic interpretation, including horizon and fault mapping, stratigraphic analysis, and development of subsurface frameworks. • Apply advanced geophysical techniques including AVO/AVA, seismic inversion, rock physics, and seismic reservoir characterization. • Integrate seismic data with well logs, core data, and petrophysical interpretation to improve subsurface understanding. • Assess geohazards including faulting, overpressure, formation instability, and drilling-related risks and support appropriate mitigation strategies. • Provide recommendations on exploration strategies, drilling locations, data acquisition programs, and development approaches. • Develop, validate, and execute geophysical programs, including scope, resources, schedules, budgets, and technical requirements. • Provide expert assessment of geological and geophysical risks, opportunities, and uncertainties to support management decision-making. • Manage geophysical components of exploration and development projects and coordinate with multidisciplinary technical teams. • Collaborate with E&P companies, technology providers, research institutions, and other stakeholders to evaluate emerging geophysical technologies and opportunities. • Evaluate and promote emerging technologies, including machine learning applications for fault detection, facies classification, and seismic interpretation. • Translate complex geophysical and subsurface data into clear technical and business recommendations. • Prepare technical reports, seismic interpretation deliverables, presentations, and recommendations for management review. • Provide technical mentoring, training, and knowledge transfer to geophysicists and other subsurface professionals. • Monitor developments in geophysical technology and recommend innovative approaches to improve exploration effectiveness. Qualification Requirements • Master’s degree in Geoscience, Geophysics, Geology, Engineering, or a related discipline; PhD is preferred. • Minimum 20 years of international Upstream Oil & Gas experience, with substantial experience in seismic geophysics and E&P activities. • Extensive experience in 2D/3D seismic acquisition planning, survey design, processing, quality control, and interpretation. • Strong knowledge of seismic acquisition techniques, processing workflows, data quality assurance, and final volume validation. • Proven expertise in seismic interpretation, including horizon mapping, fault interpretation, stratigraphy, and subsurface framework development. • Strong experience with AVO/AVA, seismic inversion, rock physics, and quantitative seismic reservoir characterization. • Proven ability to integrate seismic data with well logs, core data, and petrophysical interpretation. • Experience assessing geohazards and geological uncertainties relevant to exploration and drilling. • Proven experience developing and managing geophysical programs and supporting multidisciplinary exploration and development projects. • Knowledge of AI/ML applications in geophysical interpretation, including automated fault detection and facies classification, is preferred. • Proficiency with industry-standard G&G and seismic interpretation software. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, strategic thinking, leadership, communication, and project-management skills. • Ability to translate complex geophysical information into actionable technical and business recommendations. • International experience with major or independent E&P companies and/or research institutions is preferred. • Experience with carbonate reservoirs and Middle East petroleum systems is an advantage. • Strong technical publication record in recognized geoscience or industry journals is preferred.
