## Description

Role Purpose

The Business Development Manager will drive sustainable new business growth within the corporate General Insurance portfolio. The role is responsible for originating and developing senior-level client relationships, understanding business risks, articulating suitable multi-line insurance programmes and managing opportunities through to closure.

The position is primarily focused on client acquisition and relationship development. Dedicated placement and servicing teams will manage insurer engagement, placement execution and ongoing technical support. The successful candidate must therefore combine strong commercial acumen with disciplined pipeline management and credible corporate relationships in the UAE.

Key Responsibilities

1. Corporate New Business and Revenue Growth

• Achieve an annual new business broker revenue target of USD 200,000.

• Generate qualified corporate opportunities through an established professional network, referrals, targeted outreach, structured networking, tenders and active market engagement.

• Build relationships with decision-makers and influencers, including business owners, CFOs, finance leaders, risk managers, procurement teams and senior executives.

• Build a balanced pipeline across recurring corporate insurance lines and maintain reliable revenue forecasts, activity records and closure plans.

• Identify cross-sell and portfolio expansion opportunities across existing and newly acquired client relationships.

2. Client Advisory and Programme Development

• Conduct structured discovery to understand clients' operations, risk exposures, contractual obligations and insurance objectives.

• Present integrated insurance programmes rather than approaching relationships as simple policy renewals or price-led transactions.

• Explain coverage, exclusions, warranties, deductibles and risk obligations clearly while maintaining high standards of client advocacy and professional conduct.

• Develop long-term, multi-level relationships that extend beyond a single point of contact and support sustainable account growth.

3. Internal Coordination and Placement Support

• Coordinate closely with placement, servicing and claims teams to ensure complete and accurate submissions, clear market positioning and a seamless client experience.

• Provide timely client information and support internal teams in resolving gaps that may affect quotation, placement or policy issuance.

• Maintain commercial awareness of insurer appetite, underwriting considerations and negotiation dynamics without carrying primary responsibility for insurer relationship management.

• Keep all opportunity, pipeline, projection, cross-sell and account information current and accurate in the CRM system.

4. Portfolio Quality and Market Representation

• Prioritise recurring corporate business placed predominantly with rated insurers and aligned with quality and compliance standards.

• Develop diversified business across Property and Business Interruption, Liability, Professional Indemnity, Directors & Officers Liability, Cyber, Marine, Motor Fleet, Engineering, Group Personal Accident and related commercial lines.

• Represent the organisation professionally at business forums, client events, industry gatherings and networking platforms.

• Protect client confidentiality, company information and intellectual property, and comply with all applicable internal, regulatory and ethical requirements.

Candidate Requirements

Essential Experience

• Minimum 8–10 years of General Insurance business development experience, with substantial UAE market exposure and a demonstrable current or recent portfolio generating at least USD 200,000 in annual broker revenue, with General Insurance forming a significant proportion.

• Insurer-side candidates should demonstrate equivalent revenue contribution and a strong corporate relationship base.

• Strong corporate portfolio experience; candidates whose experience is concentrated mainly in individual motor, home, travel or other retail lines will not meet the requirement.

• Experience managing multi-line corporate insurance programmes and engaging senior decision-makers.

• Strong understanding of core and specialty General Insurance products, with the commercial judgement to identify when each line is relevant.

• Evidence of stable tenure, sustained client relationships and commitment to a long-term opportunity.

• Fluent written and spoken English, with strong presentation, negotiation and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications and Preferred Attributes

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

• CII or other recognised insurance qualification is preferred.

• Arabic language capability is preferred but not mandatory.

• Experience with tenders, government or quasi-government organisations, and large corporates would be advantageous.
