URGENT HIRING | Electrical Secondary Design Engineer – Protection & Control

📍 Location: UAE / Middle East & Africa Projects

POWERCHINA JEPCC is urgently looking for experienced Electrical Secondary Design Engineers – Protection & Control to support our HV/EHV substation projects across the UAE, Middle East and Africa.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform secondary engineering and Protection & Control design for HV/EHV AIS/GIS substations.

• Prepare/review Protection SLDs, P&C schematics, AC/DC diagrams, wiring/termination diagrams, interlocking logic and trip matrices.

• Prepare I/O & signal lists, secondary equipment schedules and control cable schedules.

• Perform relay setting calculations, protection coordination/selectivity studies and CT/VT sizing.

• Develop protection schemes for transformers, lines/cables, busbars and feeders.

• Review control and relay panel designs.

• Coordinate interfaces with SCADA, RTU, BCU, IED and teleprotection systems.

• Support FAT, SAT, testing and commissioning activities.

Mandatory Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering / Power Engineering or related discipline.

• Minimum 5 years of HV/EHV substation secondary design / Protection & Control experience.

• Strong knowledge of protection schemes, relay settings, CT/VT and control circuits.

• Hands-on experience with numerical relays from Siemens, Hitachi Energy/ABB, Schneider or GE.

• Experience with ETAP, DIGSI, PCM600 or equivalent relay engineering tools.

• Ability to independently prepare secondary equipment schedules and control cable schedules.

• Good knowledge of IEC/IEEE standards.

• Good working English.

Preferred
⭐ IEC 61850 experience

⭐ 132kV / 220kV / 400kV AIS/GIS substation experience

⭐ UAE/GCC utility or EPC project experience

⭐ Experience with major utility/consultant requirements in the GCC
