For our Office in Dubai, we are looking for

Senior HVAC Engineer – 100% (m/f)

The Ideal Candidate will have senior electrical engineering experience covering MV distribution, power centres, standby generation, UPS, critical power, and authority interfaces for airports, aviation facilities, industrial assets, or major infrastructure developments. The candidate should be capable of leading design reviews, coordinating with local utilities and authorities, assessing FAT/SAT and energisation requirements, and guiding teams on compliant, reliable, and maintainable power systems.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and review MV distribution, LV interfaces, power centre, substation, transformer, switchgear, generator, UPS, earthing, lightning protection, and critical power design deliverables.

• Review 11kV distribution arrangements, ring main units, switchgear, transformers, protection coordination, relay settings, load flow, short-circuit studies, arc flash studies, and energisation strategies.

• Coordinate utility and authority requirements, including substation submissions, metering, load schedules, NOCs, approval processes, and energisation interfaces.

• Review standby generator systems, synchronisation, UPS and critical power architecture, essential loads, resilience provisions, selectivity, maintainability, and operational constraints.

• Assess explosion-proof and hazardous-area electrical requirements for fuel, paint, chemical, maintenance, or other classified zones, including equipment certification and installation details.

• Review switchgear, transformer, generator, UPS, protection relay, cable, and electrical equipment submittals, datasheets, ITPs, FAT/SAT procedures, and test certificates.

• Coordinate electrical power requirements with mechanical, HVAC, fire protection, ELV/ICT, controls, civil, utilities, architecture, structure, BIM/CAD, construction, and commissioning teams.

• Prepare and review design reports, specifications, calculations, drawings, technical queries, BOQs, material review comments, and design response documentation.

• Lead design review meetings, technical workshops, utility coordination sessions, quality reviews, FAT/SAT planning discussions, and close-out of technical comments.

• Support testing, commissioning, energisation planning, operational handover, documentation control, and technical risk management for electrical power systems.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline; chartered status is an advantage.

• Minimum 12 years of electrical engineering experience, including at least 6 years on MV distribution, power systems, or large-site electrical infrastructure in the UAE or Gulf.

• Airport or aviation facilities experience is required, preferably including critical power, substations, hangars, MRO facilities, fuel areas, or large operational facilities.

• Strong DEWA or UAE utility coordination experience, including 11kV submissions, substation approvals, metering, load schedules, NOCs, and energisation processes.

• Strong knowledge of 11kV switchgear, ring main units, transformers, protection coordination, relay settings, earthing and lightning protection, standby generators, synchronisation, UPS, critical power, load flow, short circuit, and arc flash reviews.

• Experience with explosion-proof or ATEX electrical requirements, including IEC 60079 equipment selection, Ex certification review, cable glanding, sealing, and classified-zone coordination.

• Experience reviewing vendor documents, equipment datasheets, FAT/SAT procedures, routine and type test certificates, commissioning documentation, calculations, specifications, drawings, and BOQs.

• Good knowledge of IEC 60076, IEC 60079, IEC 61439, BS 7671 or NEC, DEWA regulations, IEEE 141/242, and relevant UAE/Gulf codes and standards.

• Ability to lead technical reviews and coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering, BIM/CAD, procurement, site, commissioning, client, contractor, supplier, and authority stakeholders.

• Middle East experience is preferred, with UAE utility and authority coordination exposure considered a strong advantage.

• Excellent written and verbal English, leadership capability, analytical thinking, and strong technical reporting skills.
