We’re Hiring: Senior Cable Harness Engineer/Technician – MIL-Spec Production

Company Description FFbots designs and manufacture Fire Fighting Robot Wabel , remotely operated UGV designed to support fire-fighters during critical operations. Wabel Robots are designed and manufactured in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, FFbots works closely with emergency services to refine its solutions and deliver reliable, mission-ready robotic assistance.

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Cable Harness Technician to manufacture, assemble, inspect, test, and troubleshoot high-reliability electrical cable harnesses for industrial firefighting and emergency-response robots.

This is a full-time, on-site production role based in Dubai, UAE. The position requires proven practical experience with military, defence, aerospace, or similarly high-reliability cable-harness systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Manufacture cable harnesses according to wiring diagrams, pinout tables, wire lists, and assembly drawings.

• Cut, strip, crimp, solder, route, bundle, sleeve, label, and terminate wires and cables.

• Assemble MIL-DTL-38999 or equivalent circular connectors.

• Select and correctly use contacts, crimping dies, positioners, and insertion/extraction tools.

• Install braided sleeving, back shells, strain relief, Raychem boots, and adhesive-lined heat-shrink.

• Perform cable shielding, grounding, bonding, and 360-degree shield termination.

• Build sealed harnesses suitable for vibration, heat, water, firefighting foam, oil, dust, and harsh industrial environments.

• Perform continuity, short-circuit, miswire, insulation-resistance, shield-continuity, and functional testing.

• Carry out crimp pull-force testing and workmanship inspections.

• Identify assembly defects, troubleshoot harness faults, and complete repairs or rework.

• Maintain production, testing, inspection, and component-traceability records.

• Support first-article builds and help train junior harness assemblers.

Required Qualifications

• At least 5 years of practical cable-harness manufacturing and assembly experience.

• Proven experience with military, defence, aerospace, aviation, or other high-reliability harnesses.

• Strong hands-on experience with MIL-Spec cables, terminals, contacts, connectors, backshells, and tooling.

• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, connector pinouts, and harness drawings.

• Experience using calibrated crimping, soldering, insertion/extraction, inspection, and electrical testing equipment.

• Strong understanding of shielding, EMI/EMC practices, environmental sealing, cable routing, and strain relief.

• High attention to workmanship, cleanliness, accuracy, and documentation.

• Ability to work independently and consistently produce reliable, repeatable assemblies.

Not Mandatory But preferred Qualifications

• IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 3 training or certification.

• Experience with MIL-DTL-38999 Series III connectors.

• Familiarity with AS50881 or equivalent aerospace/defence wiring practices.

• Experience with high-current DC systems, batteries, motor controllers, CAN bus, Ethernet, RS-485, cameras, sensors, and industrial control systems.

• Previous experience building harnesses for military vehicles, aircraft, unmanned systems, industrial robots, or emergency-response equipment.

• Ability to inspect completed harnesses and train junior technicians.

Important

This is a hands-on production position. Candidates must have direct practical harness-building experience; supervisory experience alone is not sufficient. Shortlisted applicants will complete a paid practical skills assessment involving connector assembly, crimping, shielding, sealing, testing, and workmanship inspection.
