Job Description

Responsible for supporting the Manager in ensuring that all activities are carried out in accordance with SEHA safety and management standards, policies and procedures, statutory and contractual requirements.

Responsibilities

Supervising the planning and design of all mechanical works

Providing direction and guidance on any mechanical system and/ or design drawings

Providing guidance on research in the use of different types of materials handling, heating and cooling processes, the storage and pumping of liquids and gases, and environmental controls

Overseeing and advising on setting up of work control systems, e.g. testing of equipment to make sure that standards of performance, quality, cost and safety are met

Carrying out studies about possible changes or improvements and estimating costs of upgrading facility available systems (HVAC - Heating ventilation and air-conditioning system)

Ensuring that completed works meet specifications and safety standards, contributing and adhering to the safety requirements of the operation

Assisting the Engineer in reviewing all mechanical drawings submitted by contractors/ consultants

Managing and monitoring day to day activities

Overseeing all activities related to mechanical works before, during and after the execution of the projects

Monitoring and ensuring that all works are carried out in accordance with the contract drawings, specification, instructions and programmers

Monitoring all planning, arrangement and control of material compliance testing/evaluation and ensuring relevant records are maintained

Planning and conducting regular record inspection and test activities for materials and workmanship

Approving and assisting the Engineer in resolving all recorded technical queries

Assisting and providing guidance to the Engineer in risk assessments

Overseeing installation for various mechanical systems e.g. plumbing system, drainage system (clean and dirty water), fire fighting and sprinkler system etc

Reviewing all mechanical drawings submitted by contractors/ consultants

Documentation and planning

Ensuring document control systems for the facilities on construction and maintenance information (if applicable)

Ensuring all method statements are prepared as required

Planning annually for any mechanical system up gradation and replacement

Assisting the Manager in budgetary planning for any mechanical equipment replacement

Preparing material ‘take-offs’, price comparisons and order materials as required, if applicable

Assisting in the planning and preparation of permits to work and task risk assessments

Communicating and coordinating

Communicating and consulting with other healthcare disciplines and all engineering and risk and safety departments

Attending interdisciplinary meetings to provide technical support and advice

Participating in joint meetings with members of the Health Authority Engineering Directorate

Participating in the development, communication and evaluation of standards,

procedures and protocols

Communicating and coordinating with local authorities for regulatory compliance e.g. Water Authority, Civil Defense Authority, Municipality etc.

Contributing to team effort

Participating in cross-functional teams and committees as appropriate

Developing and enhancing team procedure manual and processes and discussed with seniors

Managing his/her subordinates and ensuring team development and complaint resolution, setting KPI’s for direct reports and conducting performance appraisal and driving motivation levels of direct reports

Assuring Engineers and inspectors complete work on time and effectively

Overseeing work assigned for enquiries and inspections
