Senior Mechanical Engineer

Industry: Real Estate Developer

About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our project site team, specializing in high-rise and complex tower developments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both consultancy and contracting environments, with hands-on experience managing MEP mechanical systems execution on-site.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all mechanical works on-site including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems.

• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with project specifications and design intent.

• Review and interpret shop drawings, IFC drawings, and technical submittals.

• Ensure proper installation, testing, and commissioning (T&C) of mechanical systems.

• Monitor project progress and ensure alignment with construction schedules and milestones.

• Identify and resolve technical issues and clashes in coordination with multidisciplinary teams.

• Conduct site inspections to ensure quality, safety, and adherence to standards.

• Ensure compliance with local authority regulations and international codes (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA).

• Support value engineering and cost optimization initiatives.

• Prepare and review method statements, risk assessments, and progress reports.

• Interface with client representatives and provide technical guidance as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

• Minimum 15 years of experience in MEP/mechanical engineering.

• Proven experience in high-rise, tower, or large-scale complex projects.

• Strong exposure to both consulting and contracting environments.

• Extensive on-site execution experience (not purely design-based).

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of:

• HVAC systems (chillers, AHUs, FCUs, ventilation systems)

• Plumbing & drainage systems

• Firefighting systems (sprinklers, pumps, wet/dry risers)

• Familiarity with:

• Local authority approvals (e.g., Dubai Municipality, Civil Defense)

• International standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA)

• Proficiency in:

• AutoCAD and basic BIM coordination

• MS Office and reporting tools

Core Competencies

• Strong site leadership and coordination skills

• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability

• Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced construction environments

• Effective communication and stakeholder management

• High attention to quality, safety, and detail

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on iconic or landmark tower projects

• GCC project experience (especially UAE)
