Purpose of the Role

The Art and Design & Technology Teacher at Smart Vision School is responsible for delivering engaging, inclusive, and high-quality computing lessons that develop students’ knowledge, skills, and confidence in Art, digital literacy, and computer science. The teacher creates a positive and inspiring classroom environment, adapts teaching approaches to meet diverse learning needs, and fosters creativity, problem-solving, and curiosity.

This role aligns with UK Teachers’ Standards, KHDA Education Inspection Framework, and UAE MoE requirements, ensuring excellence in teaching, safeguarding, inclusion, and student wellbeing. The teacher maintains strong communication with parents and colleagues and contributes to the broader SVS community.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

• Plan and deliver well-structured, engaging computing lessons for students across appropriate year groups.

• Use strong subject knowledge, pedagogical skills, and technology expertise to inspire and motivate learners.

• Incorporate ICT tools, coding platforms, and digital technologies to enhance learning.

• Differentiate lessons for Students of Determination, ELL learners, and students with diverse abilities.

• Encourage students to become independent, confident, and lifelong learners.

• Model best practice in digital literacy, computational thinking, and problem-solving.

Assessment, Recording, and Reporting

• Assess and track student progress, providing constructive feedback to guide improvement.

• Support students in setting targets and achieving their potential.

• Prepare oral and written reports for parents and colleagues.

• Maintain accurate records of students’ academic, personal, and social development.

Pastoral and Behaviour Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain clear, consistent expectations for behaviour.

• Promote respect, empathy, and inclusion within the classroom and school community.

• Take proactive measures to safeguard students from bullying, discrimination, or harm.

• Support students’ wellbeing, personal development, and digital citizenship.

Curriculum Development

• Plan and prepare schemes of work and lesson plans aligned with the British National Curriculum.

• Contribute to the development of teaching resources, assessments, and enrichment activities.

• Embed UAE heritage, culture, and values where appropriate.

• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure high-quality computing provision across the school.

Professional Development and Contribution

• Engage in continuous professional development, reviewing teaching effectiveness.

• Participate actively in departmental and whole-school meetings.

• Support after-school clubs, competitions, and school initiatives.

• Maintain professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality at all times.

Essential

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

• Qualified teacher with specialism in Computing, ICT, or Computer Science.

• Minimum two years’ teaching experience in a school setting.

• Strong understanding of assessment, differentiation, and inclusion.

• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.

• Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and wellbeing requirements.

• Experience teaching in UAE or international schools.
