About the Role We are seeking a Lead 3D Technical Design Architect to support the development of complex architectural geometry from concept through detailed design. This role bridges design intent, technical resolution, and BIM delivery by developing robust, editable 3D models and integrating advanced computational design workflows into project delivery. The successful candidate will combine architectural and technical expertise with strong computational design capabilities, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure complex forms are coordinated, buildable, and suitable for documentation. Key Responsibilities Advanced Geometry & Computational Design • Develop and refine complex architectural geometry across all design stages. • Create and maintain high-quality Rhino models and Grasshopper definitions for parametric design, rationalisation, panelisation, and design optimisation. • Translate conceptual designs into structured, coordinated, and technically viable geometry. • Establish modelling strategies, data structures, and workflows that support efficient project delivery. Technical Design & Façade Coordination • Contribute to façade design development with consideration for buildability, panelisation, interfaces, tolerances, and system coordination. • Collaborate with architects, engineers, façade consultants, and specialist contractors to resolve complex design challenges. • Prepare clear 3D studies, diagrams, and technical design information to support project development. BIM Integration • Coordinate the transfer of geometry into Revit using appropriate interoperability workflows. • Ensure design models support coordination, documentation, scheduling, and downstream project requirements. • Collaborate with BIM teams to maintain model quality, consistency, and information standards. Project Delivery • Support project teams throughout the design process by developing coordinated geometry and maintaining model integrity. • Participate in design reviews, technical workshops, and multidisciplinary coordination meetings. • Manage design updates and ensure changes are accurately reflected across project models. Standards & Continuous Improvement • Contribute to the development of modelling standards, templates, reusable tools, and best practices. • Research emerging technologies and computational design workflows to improve project delivery. • Share knowledge and support continuous improvement within the technical design team. Leadership (Lead Level) • Mentor and support junior team members through technical guidance and knowledge sharing. • Contribute to planning, resource coordination, and the development of technical standards. • Promote collaborative working and technical excellence across project teams. Qualifications & Experience • Degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Computational Design, Façade Engineering, or a related discipline. • Approximately 8 or more years of relevant professional experience in architectural or technical design. • Demonstrated experience delivering complex architectural geometry within multidisciplinary design environments. • Strong portfolio showcasing computational design and BIM-integrated project delivery. Technical Skills Essential: • Expert knowledge of Rhino 3D. • Advanced proficiency in Grasshopper. • Strong experience with Autodesk Revit and BIM workflows. • Experience with Rhino–Revit interoperability tools such as Rhino. Inside. Revit or equivalent. • Understanding of façade systems, constructability, and technical detailing. Desirable: • Python, C#, Dynamo, or other scripting experience. • Revit family development and automation. • Experience with digital fabrication, computational workflows, or AI-assisted design tools. • Experience delivering large-scale or complex building projects.
