Danat Al Emarat is a world-class specialty women’s and children’s hospital in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It offers advanced medical services across specialties including Neonatology, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Women’s Health. The hospital is one of the very few to encompass a dedicated Fetal Medicine Department along with a full-fledged Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the UAE. This has established Danat Al Emarat as a regional referral center for women with high-risk pregnancies, supported by its Level III NICU providing care for the most fragile newborns.

An Urgent Care Nurse in a Women’s Hospital plays a critical role in delivering timely, patient-centered care to women presenting with acute, non-life-threatening conditions. This role involves rapid assessment, triage, and management of a wide range of obstetric and gynecological concerns, ensuring prompt intervention and coordination with multidisciplinary teams. The nurse is skilled in identifying changes in patient condition, prioritizing care based on clinical urgency, and supporting patients through often stressful or emergent situations. With a strong focus on safety, compassion, and efficiency, the Urgent Care Nurse ensures high-quality care while maintaining dignity and privacy for all patients

Responsibilities

• Perform rapid triage and assessment of patients presenting with urgent obstetric and gynecological conditions.

• Monitor maternal and fetal wellbeing, including performing and interpreting fetal heart rate monitoring (CTG) when required.

• Identify and prioritize patients based on severity of condition to ensure timely intervention.

• Provide emergency nursing care for conditions such as vaginal bleeding, abdominal pain, early pregnancy complications, and postpartum concerns.

• Assist physicians and midwives in emergency procedures and examinations.

• Administer medications, IV therapy, and other prescribed treatments safely and accurately.

• Recognize signs of patient deterioration and initiate appropriate emergency protocols.

• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including obstetricians, gynecologists, anesthetists, and laboratory services.

• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, follow-up care, and warning signs requiring immediate attention.

• Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation.

• Ensure patient safety, comfort, dignity, and confidentiality at all times.

• Adhere to infection control policies and maintain a clean, safe clinical environment.

• Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients in urgent and stressful situations.

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to hospital policies and guidelines.

• Support admission, transfer, or discharge processes based on patient condition and care plan

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution

• Valid UAE license (DOH/DHA/MOH)

• Candidate is required to have experience in emergency gynecology cases.
