## Description

JOB PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE:
The Superintendent, Cranes Zone B/C, is responsible for leading and managing all crane, lifting, and rigging operations within Zone B/C to support shipbuilding and rig construction activities. The role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant execution of lifting operations, optimizes manpower and equipment resources, and aligns operational delivery with production requirements, project schedules, and IMI’s safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Supervise departmental staff, including duty allocation, competency training, leave rosters, and absence management.
• Plan and allocate resources effectively to maximize manpower and asset utilization across IMI projects.
• Collaborate with Asset Management to ensure maintenance upkeep, certification, and availability of lifting and rigging assets.
• Lead the development, implementation, and continuous review of departmental operating procedures and best practices.
• Work closely with other superintendents/managers and Engineering to optimize operations, mitigate hazards, and ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and international lifting standards (e.g. ISO, BS7121, EN, ASME, LEEA, LOLER, ACOP).
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to lifting and rigging teams, including support on complex operations.
• Oversee recruitment, training, and certification of personnel; conduct performance appraisals; and manage staff concerns or disputes.
• Drive continuous improvement in operational processes, safety performance, and asset efficiency.
• Undertake other tasks as assigned by the GM & LR Manager in line with departmental objectives.

Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Education
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Experience
• At least 9 – 12 for degree holders and 15 – 17 for diploma holders’ years of experience in a similar role within specialized heavy lifting and rigging environments, such as ship/rig Yard or oil and gas yards experience.
