## Description

Responsible for overseeing management of the Physical Environment program, in order to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors and personnel.
Lead the Activities of other Safety Personnel.
Ensures that all Joint Commission guidelines for the Physical Environment of Care standards at the hospitals remain compliant.
Coordinates activities of the management plans within the Environment of care for the hospital and serves as the Safety Specialist. Co-chairs Environment of Care Committee.
Provides guidance and support to the Chief Operating Officer, regarding safety improvement efforts.
Ensures safety and facility quality control is in compliance with local regulations.
Track data provided within the Environment of Care program to make ongoing improvements.
Participates in hospital committees as. This includes community involvement regarding emergency preparedness and facilitate the requirements of the Dept.
Maintain a risk register. Conduct required Risk Assessment quarterly.
Participate in Incident Report Review as directed by Q.I
Reviews and update policies related to Safety, Emergency Management and Environment of Care.
Coordinate with Q. I. about your daily activity, actions taken on departmental submittals or requirements and keep updating him about upcoming plans, improvements etc.
The Safety Specialist is subject to being on-call 24 hours/7 days /week to respond to emergencies.
Participates in performance improvement and information management activities. Coordinate a multidisciplinary team to conduct ongoing safety tours of clinical and nonclinical areas.
Assists in the enforcement of interim life safety plans and infection control risk assessments.
Prepare EOC committee meeting memos, minutes of meeting after each meeting within a week time and presents the summary of activities for the period.
Presents the outstanding safety issues to the committee for action.
Ensure Safety Rounds in all Hospital Accommodations once in every 6 months, document finding, report to concerns for remedial action and follow-up accordingly.
Conduct assessment of fire risks when construction is present in or adjacent to the facility. Have Safety Round every week and fill out the Interim Life Safety Measure Form.
Coordinate with Safety Officers for ensuring contractors, vendors and other entities working within hospital premises comply with Hospital’s Safety requirements.
Serves as a resource to departments in developing safe working practices and in maintaining a safe working environment.

Requirements:
Five to six years experience in a similar field with at least two years experience in a management position
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred, but other fields maybe accepted
NEBOSH or equivalent Safety Certificate
