## Description

Job Summary
The Barista is responsible for delivering exceptional coffee and beverage experiences through the preparation and presentation of specialty coffees, teas, and other beverages in accordance with Rosewood brand standards and the expectations of an ultra-luxury environment. A strong operational presence is maintained throughout all service periods, ensuring consistency, attention to detail, efficiency, and personalized guest engagement. The Barista demonstrates expert product knowledge, craftsmanship, and passion for coffee while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, organization, and presentation. Accountability includes guest satisfaction, beverage quality, operational excellence, and maintaining an inviting and refined café or beverage experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Quality:
- Maintain beverage operations in line with Rosewood, Forbes, and LQA standards.
- Prepare and serve specialty coffee, tea, and other beverages according to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Ensure consistency in beverage quality, taste, temperature, and presentation.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of coffee, teas, brewing methods, and specialty beverages.
- Operate espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Provide warm, personalized, and attentive guest service.
- Engage with guests, recommend suitable beverages, and accommodate special requests.
- Ensure guest allergies and dietary requirements are clearly understood and followed.
- Complete daily mise en place and ensure readiness for service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of beverage stations, equipment, and work areas.
- Ensure menus, beverage displays, and promotional materials are accurate and well presented.
- Monitor the freshness and quality of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other ingredients.
- Proactively propose new beverage ideas, seasonal specials, and product enhancements to the Manager to support innovation, enhance the guest experience, and drive revenue opportunities.
- Follow recipes and portion standards to ensure consistency and minimize waste.
- Support VIP amenities, special events, seasonal promotions, and bespoke beverage requests.
- Ensure beverage equipment is maintained in excellent condition and report maintenance needs promptly.

Financial:
- Maintain awareness of daily beverage sales, average check, and outlet performance.
- Support achievement of beverage revenue and profitability targets.
- Promote specialty beverages, premium coffee selections, pastries, and retail products through confident upselling.
- Ensure accuracy of order taking, billing, and posting within operational systems.
- Minimize beverage and ingredient wastage through proper preparation, storage, and portion control.
- Maintain awareness of coffee, milk, and beverage cost performance.
- Participate in inventory counts and stock replenishment as required.
- Ensure proper stock rotation using FIFO principles.
- Report shortages, equipment issues, and product discrepancies promptly.

- Support implementation of seasonal promotions and beverage initiatives.

Leading:
- Maintain professional grooming, appearance, and behavior at all times.
- Participate actively in daily briefings and beverage training sessions.
- Support onboarding and training of new baristas and beverage associates.
- Share coffee knowledge, brewing techniques, and best practices with colleagues.
- Maintain effective communication with service associates, supervisors, culinary, stewarding, and other departments.
- Demonstrate teamwork by supporting colleagues during busy service periods.
- Maintain a positive, respectful, and professional working environment.
- Lead by example through professionalism, product knowledge, craftsmanship, and guest engagement.
- Maintain consistency in beverage preparation standards and operational discipline throughout each shift.
- Continuously develop coffee knowledge through tastings, product education, and industry best practices.
